1) Build a tent, skip the hovel -
Every citizen should build a tent first. The tent only costs AP, no materials, and adds a +1 defense bonus to the town. Early on, this is a great CHEAP way to boost overall town defense. Do NOT upgrade to a hovel early as you'll only succeed in wasting resources and pissing the town off; every scrap of wood and iron is needed for townwide projects early on.

2) Manage your AP properly! -
Each citizen gets 6AP per day, which can be replenished with water, food and drugs. Water is a full 6AP, as is food. Drugs vary and can push you over the max AP limit (IE, 7/6AP). Anything that maximizes us of AP is invaluable - which is why building a workshop AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE can have huge long term benefits. Be sure to use your AP each day effectively, which leads to..

3) Conserve supplies, understand their negative effects -
You must drink water at least once every other day (I'm pretty sure it's every two, if not every three. Considering you'll want it for the AP, this shouldn't be a problem, but as water gets scares, every ration matters.) Food's roughly the same way, but drugs are slightly different. If you get addicted to a drug, you need to keep using it or there's a chance you'll die of withdrawals. Save drugs for emergency, desperation situations. There's no reason to use them just to use them - conserve everything you can until the proper time.

4) Travel the desert safely! - Make sure you know how much AP you need to get to a given square, and make sure you have enough FOR THE TRIP BACK. If you have full AP and head more than three squares out of town, make sure you have water, food or drugs to get back. Getting stranded out in the desert and dying penalizes the town overall as your AP that could be spent on projects is wasted. Each citizen is a potential 18AP/day with food/water alone. Be aware of what time the town gate closes and, if you aren't able to be online in time to get back to town, opt to stay inside and use your AP to build on projects rather than scavenging. Be aware of the overall number of zombies in a square and, if surrounded, CALL FOR HELP. Running means a whole pack of Zeds is going to mau on your backside; call for help. Saving fellow travellers ensures that 18AP per person is available for the town needs. Spending 6 of your own AP to go out, bring water/food or aid to a fellow citizen helps the town overall. BRING WEAPONS WHERE POSSIBLE, TO WHERE THEY CAN MOST BE USED. Hoarding items does the town no good and will get you killed in the long run if the town wipes out because of your greed..

5) Build the right stuff! -
Understand exactly what you're spending your AP on when building; oftentimes people have no idea and will spend it on what they've seen has already been started. Don't assume because it has AP in it, it's worth adding on to. Don't blindly follow others if you're unsure; find out where each project leads and ask on the forums if you have questions. For example, compare Old School Traps and the Great Pit. Old school traps requires more planks, less ap to build and provides a greater defense boost but after you build it, it is done.
The great pit however, gets two sub upgrades for 95 points of defense and can be voted on daily to give an extra 32 points of defense per upgrade.. which leads to the next point..

6) GET OUT AND VOTE -
This isn't the depressing real world where voting has no power.. VOTING IS NOT JUST TO SHOW WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO BUILD FOR THE DAY, VOTING ACTUALLY UPGRADES THE STRUCTURES THAT WIN THE VOTE. Let's say you build a pump for +20 water; congratulations, you've gotten 20 water.. and that's it. It doesn't give you more if it just sits there.. but vote on it each day and like magic appear, +20 more water. The same goes for various defense upgrades and other things. If you don't know, ask. Do not waste votes!

7) Be organized! -
Know who is doing what, and make sure all our bases are covered. Scavenging all day does us no good if we have no AP to build projects, and there's a point where we have sufficient materials and need to focus on building what's needed to get through the night. If we're short on materials, communicate with the team. There's no reason for multiple people to waste AP getting what one or two people alone can get safely. Do not head out into the desert alone as getting stranded requires other citizens to waste AP coming to save you. Talk on the forums, run decisions by the group overall. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHO'S CLOSING THE TOWN GATE, WHEN AND IF IT AIN'T YOU, MAKE SURE YOU'RE BACK INSIDE BEFORE IT DOES.

1- Neither drink nor eat the first time you leave town and leave your things in your chest.

2- Plan a route which will use all your 6 AP without repeating any squares, that way you'll maximize you APs.

3- Use autosearch whenever possible, and ideally in a zone that's not depleted. For that, you'll have to start scavenging early on (after the attack, if you're lucky to live in a place where the timezone matches your nighttime, you can leave your character scavenging and go to sleep, and check it in the morning.)

4- If you deplete a zone, please mark the map.

5- If you don't have any more space, leave the things on the ground and let us know in the forum (What they are and where they are). Also, mark them on the map.

5- After you're done scavenging, go back to town, leave the things in the bank and go back to your house. Eat or drink there, clean your uniform and tidy your house (free actions) and you're ready to go out again or to spend your points in the construction sites (please check the forums before spending AP like a dumbass)


*Important things: If you get trapped, don't run; ask for help in the forums. Also, get back before the gate's closing time, you don't want to be outside when THEY come for us.

DO:
READ THE TOWN FORUMS. Unsure about something? Ask on the town forums.

BUILD A WORKSHOP ON DAY 1. It's extremely important so don't waste AP on other buildings on Day 1. Other important Day 1 buildings: Watchtower and Portal Lock

USE AUTOSEARCH WHEN SCAVENGING OUTSIDE. You can sit there every 2 hours and potentially find resources without spending AP. This saves AP and prevents you from wandering too far and getting trapped. Autosearch works even when the zone is depleted.

VOTE FOR A PROJECT EVERY DAY. Preferably near the end of the day when a few projects have been completed.

PUT DEFENSE OBJECTS IN THE BANK. They will provide the town with 2 defense if they are in the Bank instead of just 1 from your Home.

USE MAP MARKERS to tell the rest of the town if an area has zombies or is depleted.

ASK BEFORE CONSTRUCTING SOMETHING IN THE BANK. The town could need that object for something very important!

SCAN THE WATCHTOWER EVERY DAY. It helps estimate the number of zombies that will be attacking that night and doesn't cost any AP.

MAKE SURE 'MARK' AND 'GLOBAL' ARE CHECKED ON THE MAP BEFORE YOU LEAVE TOWN so you know where search and where all the zombies are.

DON'T:
DON'T BUILD A HOVEL until the community decides to allow it. There are CRUCIAL buildings we need to use those first few planks for.

DON'T STAY OUTSIDE PAST 22:40. Most towns will close and lock the gates before then.

DON'T PANIC! Trapped in a zone with Zombies? Ask for help on the forums if you are trapped outside.

DON'T FLEE FROM ZOMBIES unless it is almost dusk! You will get WOUNDED which leads to an INFECTION. Wounds and infections are hard to cure because the bandages and drugs needed to heal you are hard to come by.

DON'T USE DRUGS FOR NO REASON unless it is life or death and the gate is an hour or less than closing. You may get saved. If you use drugs, there is a very high likelihood that you will become addicted and drain our precious medical supplies every day or DIE.

DON'T EAT OR DRINK WHEN YOU HAVE MORE THAN 0 AP. They fill you back up to 6, and good foods put you at 7, but if you're at 0 or 5, you'll still only go up to 6. You should be getting 18AP every day this way. If you have the option of eating or drinking first, always eat first. Drinking water should be the last "AP refill" of the day.

DON'T EAT MEATY BONES OR HUMAN FLESH. You will probably get INFECTED. Also, we can use them later to make lures!

DON'T ENTER UNEXPLORED TILES UNLESS YOU ARE ONE OF THE FIRST FEW TO VENTURE OUTSIDE FOR THE DAY. If there are undepleted zones, stay there and autosearch. Remember to log in and go back to town before the gate closes. YOU WILL GET LOST AND DRAIN OUR RESOURCES in rescue attempts if you decide to waste your AP running around the desert when there are open, safe, and plump squares for salvaging.

DON'T OPEN OR CLOSE THE GATE UNLESS YOU VOLUNTEERED ON THE TOWN FORUMS TO BE A GATEKEEPER. If it's a new day, feel free to open the gate if you're the first one out the door.

DON'T RUN OFF TO A FAR CORNER OF THE MAP. Stay within a few tiles and we can help you if you run into trouble!

DON'T TRY TO USE HEROIC ACTIONS AS A RESIDENT. The magical teleport won't save you unless you're a Hero.

DON'T FIGHT ZOMBIES WITHOUT A WEAPON. Unless you are extremely lucky, you will never land a hit and waste AP.

DON'T ATTEMPT TO USE THE 'EMS'. It will wound you.

DON'T CONSTRUCT TEMPORARY DEFENSES unless there is nothing else you can build to defend your town. They might seem tempting with their low resource and AP cost, but they only last the night and can often waste precious resources, like nuts & bolts.

Do:
1- READ THE TOWN FORUMS! Every day! And please post from time to time... That way, we’ll know you’re alive!

2- Use autosearch! You can just sit there every 2 hours and potentially find something new! This saves AP and prevents you from wandering too far and getting trapped. Even when the zone is depleted. For more useful tips, please read the Scavenger Guide for Noobs.

3- Vote for a project everyday! Preferably near the end of the day when a few projects have been completed. Also, please check which project we’re developing: that way you won’t be wasting a vote and you’ll be helping us all.

4- Put defensive items in the bank. They will provide the town with 2 defense if they are located here instead of just one in your home.

5- Use map markers to tell the rest of the town if an area has zombies or is depleted. Also, let us know if you left items on the ground on the forum.

6- Ask before you're about to make something with bank objects. The town could need that object for something very important!

7- Help assist with zombie estimations if your town has a watchtower. It's a free action! The best time to do so is right after the attack, that will help us with planning what we have to do that day, and how much defense we need.

8- Build a workshop ASAP. It's important!

9- Make sure 'Mark' and 'Global' are checked on the map before you leave town so you know where search and where all the zombies are.

Do Not:

1- Do Not Build a Hovel (There are exceptions, ask a vet when it's okay)

2- DON'T PANIC! Trapped in a zone with Zombies? Ask for help on the forums if you are trapped outside.

3- Do Not Run off to a far corner of the map. Stay within a few spaces and we can help you if you run into trouble!

4- Do Not Try to use Heroic actions! You can't! The magical teleport won't save you! (unless you're a hero)

5- Do Not Eat or Drink when you have more than 0AP. You’ll only waste your APs, they won’t go past 6 if you eat or drink too soon.

6- Do Not Take things from the bank unless you absolutely must and let us know, that way we won’t ban you because we thought you were a Griefer.

7- Do Not Try to fight the zombies with your bare hands. Unless you are very lucky, you will just waste AP.

8- Do Not Run away from zombies, you will get injured and infected. It is hard to fix you. For that, we’ll need Paracetoid and a Bandage, and none of us worth that much XD

9- Do Not Eat human flesh or meaty bones (Unless you are infected or addicted, infection gives you a 50% chance of dying during the attack, and if you’re addicted and you don’t take drugs, you’ll die in the night. 100% chance.)

10- Do Not Attempt to use the EMS System, it will hurt you.

11- Do Not Take drugs unless it's absolutely needed! We can’t cure addictions.

12- Do Not make temporary defenses (anything marked with a caution triangle ) unless there is nothing else you can build to defend your town. They might seem tempting with their low resource and AP cost BUT they only last the night and can often waste precious resources, like nuts & bolts.

13- Do Not Stay outside past the closing time! The attack happens at 23h not midnight like much of the text says, so please check the forums and ask the gatekeeper (another player who will be spending 1 AP to close the doors at a given time) at what time he’s closing AND BE SURE OF BEING INSIDE BEFORE THAT HAPPENS. If not, it’s zombie chow time.

Minha cidade no meio dia já tem wall strenghtening, workshop, portal lock e watchtower. Tudo bem que construí a wall e o workshop sozinho praticamente.
